I am Winnie Yeung, a Consultant ENT Surgeon based at St. George's Hospital in London. I specialise in Laryngology, a branch of medicine that deals with the larynx (voice box).
As a Laryngologist, I treat disorders of the larynx, including disorders that affect the voice, swallowing and upper airway. In particular, I have expertise in using botulinum toxin to treat complex neurological conditions which affect the voice, head and neck.
I launched Sevas as a passion project. I’ve found that there is often not enough time to thoroughly address the concerns of my patients in the allocated appointment time in my NHS practice. This may lead to miscommunication and misunderstanding, not to mention an unsatisfactory experience for both patient and doctor.
My experience inspired me to create this free, accessible and trusted resource on all things larynx. With the relevant information all in one place, my patients can refer to it at anytime, from anywhere.
Whether you have just received a new diagnosis, or are about to have a surgical procedure on your voice box, or perhaps you are a professional voice user who wants to learn more about their instrument and the best way to look after it, I hope you will find something useful here to empower your journey to voice health.
My 'Day One' supporter who nurtured and cultivated my interest in Laryngology. He believed in me when few others did, and encouraged me to believe in my own abilities. His friendship and mentorship continues to be a source of inspiration.
'I'm not going to teach you how to operate, I'm going to teach you how to think', working with Dan and Speech Pathologist, A/Prof. Cate Madill at the University of Sydney has been a truly transformative experience for me. And he's right, he changed the way I think about lots of things.
The undisputed 'Queen of Botox' and my predecessor at St. George's. Lucy trained me to administer botulinum toxin therapy with greater precision and accuracy, and to apply it to wide-ranging clinical indications such as R-CPD, cricopharyngeal spasm and bent neck.
